Whats the best music player to use while playing games? WMP? Winamp? Itunes?
What's the best music player to use while playing games?
Cuz i'm getting sick of WMP
Best overall btw. As in performance, speed, memory usage...everything

I'd say winamp myself. It doesn't seem to give any games problems, playing music or not, and i never close the thing.
I'd definitely NOT look at itunes though, if speed and performance is what you want. My exp. with itunes says that it's generally slow and sluggish. But then again that's how all windows ports of apple's software are so... yea.

Foobar for sure. It uses minimal resources and is super easy to bind global keys to so you can adjust volume and control tracks in game. A keyboard with media controls will also do this obviously, but not everyone has one and they don't always function properly. I could also get into why foobar > everything else from an audio enthusiast and tweak freak perspective but I'll spare you that.

Winamp hands down; its been around a lot longer than most of these new ones, like resource hungry itunes. Never had 1 problem with it.

I like musikCube a lot.
iTunes is crap, I usually reboot on Linux to use Amarok instead when I want to change my iPod's content.

I use winamp, I love it. It's very customizable and you can tone it down to use less system resources if you are limited to them, which is awesome. Like for example, I noticed the Classic Skin seems to run better on lower-spec'd systems than say the Bento skin. And it never lags, with iTunes up, my songs used to lag-skip all the time, and I just never liked WMP, but WMP11 is more usable than the older ones.
I haven't used anything outside of WMP, iTunes, Winamp, and the Zune client (Don't use the zune client, takes up so much resources.) So I'd definitely have to say Winamp hands down, it has to be one of the best players out there, especially because of it's customization - you can tweak it to your own flavor.
And making playlists is super easy, I just put the name of a band into a playlist, and dump all of their cd's into the playlist in order by the dates they came out. Couldn't make things easier really, it's just a drag and drop situation, no hassle. And I have my Logitech G5's macro buttons set up to change songs while I'm gaming, so changing songs is even easier than having to look at my Zune on my desk and all.
Oh yeah and, Winamp Llama ftw.

I remember reading a GWG thread about adding your own music to a DirectSong install and I'm wondering whether it'd be feasible to actually use this as a in-game music player, with a nice and practicle interface ...

While we're on the subject of media players and the g15..
Winamp paired up with this is a personal favorite of mine. Nice control over winamp, as well as a bunch of other useful things too.

I go with Winamp, but keep it in classic mode. Maybe it's just my imagination, but it seems to get a little memory heavy if you try the modern skins.

I just use WMP or Winamp (or occassionally Yahoo! Music Jukebox). I would have to say WMP comes up the fastest and requires the least loading, but I just don't like the way the songs are listed.
